Achilles Tendonitis

Achilles tendonitis is a condition in which the tendon that connects the calf muscle (gastrocnemius) to the heel bone (calcaneus) becomes inflamed. This injury is commonly associated with repetitive motion sports, such as running and jumping in basketball, soccer, football, that demand constant stretch and contraction of the calf muscle. This excess wear and tear causes micro-tears to the achilles tendon and can result in inflammation, swelling, and discomfort/pain. Achilles injuries can be tough to overcome due to the usage of our legs throughout the day, which may prolong the overall recovery process.

Laser therapy can help achilles tendonitis by improving circulation to the affected area and removing the inflammation that afflicts the tendon. Once the area is no longer inflamed, the tendon will once again move smoothly and no longer cause pain when used. Since we use our legs a lot throughout the day for daily tasks, Laser Therapy will help maximize recovery efficiency during resting periods of no activity.
